GF-6 Update - Part 2

GF-6 is the upcoming engine oil specification from ILSAC and will be divided into two sub-sections: GF-6A and GF-6B.  GF-6A is the upgrade from GF-5 and covers traditional ILSAC viscosity grades such as 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30, while GF-6B is the new category for ultra-low viscosity grades such as 0W-16 and 5W-16.  As of now, the first license date for ILSAC GF-6A is April 2018, while the license date for GF-6B is still under discussion. Castrol GF-6 Update - Part 1

Development of ILSAC GF-6, the new passenger car oil specification, is continuing to take shape. First allowable use of the GF-6 specification is targeted for December 2017. This date is dependent on a number of factors, but the two key factors are the completion of the new Heavy Duty oil specification (PC-11) and the development and completion of new tests for the GF-6 spec.
