Automotive Service Professional,
Your results of the 2009 Board as determined by the March 19th election are as follows:
| John Vallely |
John Jobst |
| Frank Brizek |
Mike Charewicz |
| Mark Hill |
Tim Javurek |
In March, Bill Haas, ASA's vice president of Education and Training, conducted presentations to ASA-IL members in Springfield, Rockford and Chicago. The topic was the future of auto technology. ASA-IL members extend a big thank you to Bill for visiting us.
The idea, "I'm not buying a new car; I'm fixing the old one" is to be promoted to increase our success. If you hear something three times, you believe it. Let's hear it a lot.
Look for Linder "Guru" training in September 2009 as part of the ASA-Illinois Annual Training and Trade Show. More info to come.
All the best,
Jim Patton,
Executive Director
Automotive Service Association of Illinois

| The History of ASA National |
ASA was incorporated as an association May 31, 1951.
ASA is a not-for-profit international trade association headquartered in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area, and has thousands of members nationwide. ASA members agree to adhere to the association's code of ethics. Members perform mechanical, auto body and transmission repairs, and can be identified by the red, white and blue ASA sign.
ASA-Illinois was started in the 1930s as the "Cook County Garage Association." In the 1940s, we became "Independent Garage Owners of Illinois." In the 1950s we became "Automotive Service Counsels of Illinois." The '60s, '70s and '80s saw the merger of many Illinois groups into one large statewide organization affiliated with ASA-National called ASA-Illinois, including mechanical, collision and transmission shops.
The present Illinois organization was incorporated February 1998 as Automotive Service Association of Illinois as a state-wide mechanical division that includes transmission shops affiliated with ASA-National.
Frank Brizek, "Mac" McGovern and William Haas where the original officers and founders.
